DSWD-10 through SMI Provides Comprehensive Livelihood Support to Claveria Sustainable Livelihood Pro

The Municipality of Claveria is considered to be a first class municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental. It is the only landlocked municipality with the biggest area coverage in any town of the province. Its main income comes from crop production, sale of freshwater fish and fish value-added products, livestock, and poultry. Majority of community members are into farming but a handful of them took the path less travelled by attending the training on massage therapy last January 31, 2017 at Brgy. Ane-I. A total of 38 young trainees took the challenge of learning the basics of massage and its various applications.

All of the students were getting eager to learn, now that they are already earning during their OJT. During the day they would have their classes and in the evening they are all gathered to accept massage services from friends, relatives, people from the neighoring barangays with a rate of P100.00 (Whole Body Massage) and P50.00 (Half-Body Massage) in which all their earnings are collected and saved-up to be equally ddivided after their graduation day. They are also accepting home service massage, wherein all earnings are solely for them and with a much higher rate.

Aside from the allowance distribution, the students were also visited by one of the Staff of Jobfit Workforce Solutions, the employment division of the International Labor Force Group and a subsidiary company of Skills Mastery Institute. They were taught how to prepare for interviews, the do’s and don’t’s and how to create a Resume and Application letter.
